Research Experience

If you are an undergraduate at SDSU in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences, you can take a research practicum course (SLHS 595) with Dr. Emmorey.

If you are an undergraduate at UCSD in Psychology or in Linguistics with an ASL major/minor you can take a 199 course with Dr. Emmorey.

To take either of these research courses requires the consent of Dr. Emmorey, working between 5 - 10 hours in the lab (depending upon the number of units), and a short paper (3-5 pages) due at the end of the semester/quarter. Some fluency in American Sign Language is desirable, but not mandatory.

If you are interested in volunteering in the laboratory or in taking a research course, please contact us.

Thank you for your interest!
